Peugeot 206 mileage problem! Not showing total mileage that has been done!?

The past few weeks I've noticed that when I turn on the car it doesn't show the total mileage that has been done on the car! It does however show a spanner and 14000 when I start it and then goes onto the mileage clock that can be reset.
The total mileage on it should be around 123,500 when I last saw it on the clocks a few weeks back.

I only have the car 4months and wouldn't drive it that often! Only 20 miles a week at the most!
Can anyone help? Thank you.

The car is a two door, 2001 1.1 petrol engine.

the spanner sign and 14000 is telling you it needs a service ! when the service is carried out by the garage they will reset the clocks ! this can also be reset without having a service ! but it will cost you a small amount approx £20 ? hope this helps,,

Taking the car for a service will make no difference. It sounds like it may be a problem with your ECU as the bulb behind the display is clearly working as It displays 14000 when you turn the car on. Just in case I am wrong and the two people that suggested servicing the car are right you could try resetting the service indicator yourself. To do this remove the key, hold down the trip reset button then insert the key and turn to the second notch. The display will show a count down from 10 to 0. When it reaches 0 release the button and remove the key. I doubt this will do anything but worth a try

Just what Brian said, take it for a wee service and cheer the car up. I have one of these to and it likes its wee service
