Hey guys,

Just wondering if anybody could shed a little light on this issue I'm having with my Peugeot 205 (52 reg).

Sometimes, when turning the key in the ignition to start the engine, the engine won't turn over, the car will let out a beep, the doors will lock and all the electrics will go off for a couple of seconds. When they come back on, the clock is reset. This was happening rarely until the last couple of weeks when it has increased. This morning, it did it 4 times before the engine eventually started.

I'm thinking it may be the battery, but I'm not sure.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'd go with the dying battery theory first of all, get it checked out, and buy a new one if necessary.

Failing that, it sounds like typical wonky French car electrics which will need a cross between a magician and an auto electrician to sort out......

Yes, the battery is dead. How old is the battery? The starter may be defective as well. Have a mechanic check both.
