Question:
Do you think "SHOULD BE LISTED IN YOUR OWNERS MANUAL" is really an answer at all??

How much effort or knowledge does it take to type that phrase as an answer? Does it help? NOOOOO.
If the person doesn't have an owner's manual, he can ask his question here, and get some GOOD ADVICE, right?

There are some darn good answers in this category by men and women who actually work on their cars. I ASK YOU now, WHO needs 2 points bad enough to just say,
"Look in the owners manual".

I agree with you.

Saying "look in the owners manual" is as bad of an answer as "google it" or "try eBay"

Lack of an owners manual to a an expensive piece of machinery like an automobile, happens to be one of my major pet-peeves.

I am always happy to provide one to any&all askers that need/want one.

If they are asking a Q that can be answered with an owners manual.... I assume that they don't have one.

I generally answer those questions, with a link to download the owners manual, if available and also tell them which pages and/or chapter the answer can be verified.

(I didn't get BA here but at least i gave the GM owner site)

I do give that answer on occasion. Simple maintenance questions or other model specific questions, such as how do I change the time on the clock.

If the asker, mentions that he/she doesn't have a manual, then of course, you can't give that answer. I try and give them the online URL to download an owners manual, if I have it..

How many people out there, never bother reading or looking at the manual.

And as for the points, who cares once you have enough to answer all the questions that you want? I don't remember any cash values.

Good luck,

If the asker doesn't have an owners manual, they should say so in the question.

So many people on here know so little about cars in general that pointing out that there is an owners manual is a panacea for their current and future questions.

LOOKS like no mater what anybody says in here to your question all you want to do is give crap to them about there answers.... SO for you question there is no good answer for you.... and yes I do know how to work on my car and I know enough but Like I said you just want to bash everyone that answers your question so whatever....Also by the response you gave to me it just seems like you want everyone to do your work for you and give you the excat for everything. instead of being lazy just look it up then if it stumps you then ask. the internet is amazing you can find anything.....

In general the most times i have seen that answer is when people ask about certain maintenance schedules. i.e. when should i change my timing belt. etc.
