It could be the battery, or one of the motors as you have suggested, on my 206 i notice this occassionally happens when one of the doors is not properly closed the central locking pops up again, my advice would be to check that all the doors are flush within the frames before locking. If you do take it to a garage don't be pressured, a good garage will pinpoint the problem and give you a free estimate

RE:

How do I reset a Peugeot 206 remote key fob?

I have replaced the battery on my remote key fob, but it is no longer in sinc with the car & won't work. Does anyone know how I can reset it without having the cost of the dealer resetting it? Please help!

I'm not sure about Peugeots but I did similar with a Renault...

On the door frame there is a panel with serial numbers and some other codes. I needed to make a note of a particular one of these.

Inside the key there was a code which I noted.

I then needed to get hold of a piece of software to generate another code.

Then I simply used the central locking button on the car to enter the generated code, pointed the key at the car and pressed the button a couple of times and it all resynched, saving me about 60 quid!

If you google for peugeot fob codes or peugeot fob software then it should give some decent results.
